Ancient Native American Proverb:
"Treat the earth well: it was not given to you by your parents, it was loaned to you by your children. We do not inherit the Earth from our Ancestors, we borrow it from our Children."

Pack 93 is the largest and most popular of Scout units in the Orcutt area.  The reason for its popularity is it is the only "Field Pack" in Orcutt, fully adhering to the scouting tradition of outdoor skill training. Pack meetings are usually held during an outdoor activity such as camping, hiking trip, or conservation project. Heavy emphasis is placed on achieving woodsman skills at all levels. Boys with Pack 93 are taught a love for nature, respect for wildlife, conservation, and that they can make a difference in protecting the Earth's resources.

As with all Cub Scout Packs, we are affiliated with a local Elementary School; ours being Ralph Dunlap Elementary. However,  due to the unique nature of the Program, Pack 93 finds itself in high demand from families throughout Orcutt and seldom meets in the traditional setting at a central in-door location like most Packs.

The Pack 93 program is oriented towards developing interest not only in the boys but in the parents as well and we are fortunate to have parents who are fully involved with the program. Many of our parents are trained or experienced in activities such as natural resources sciences, aquatic safety, carpentry, boating, athletic coaches, shooting sports, archery, wilderness survival, orienteering, martial arts etc. Parents also serve on committees which manage key functions of the Pack including organizing and running activities, fundraising, and community service projects.

Pack 93 has a policy of total inclusion and all ranks and their families are invited to outdoor activities. Activities designed at these outings are age appropriate at the different levels. This program is beneficial to the younger scouts as they get a early look at Webelo skills. The only exception to this rule are Boy Scout/Webelo overnights.

PACK 93 Philosophy

Pack 93 has two major focal points in its philosophy:

The first is to provide an opportunity for young boys to develop strong character, confidence, self esteem, and family values through the scouting based program and strong family involvement.

The second is dedicated to providing young boys with an outdoor ethic, to learn an appreciation for nature, the environment, and protecting the earth's resources. To do this, Pack 93 focuses on outdoor experiences for the boys ranging from campouts and hikes to conservation projects, and outdoor skill training. Pack 93 is unique as it welcomes all of its members, regardless of rank, to share in the outdoor experience. Whether the Scout is a Tiger, Wolf, Bear, or Webelo, he will live an outdoor adventure and learn the ways of the Woodsman!
